ANNAPOLIS, MD--04/02/2009--Maryland Senators Andrew P. Harris, Republican, District 7, Baltimore County & Harford County, left, and Jamin B. (Jamie) Raskin, Democrat, District 20, Montgomery County, spar over an amendment to HB 100, sponsored by Harris, that would have denied all funding to the Univ. of Maryland, College Park, should the school's student union go ahead with plans to allow the screening of the pornographic movie "Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge," Thursday, April 2, 2009, in Annapolis, Md. Raskin contended on the floor that it was not the place of the legislature to interfere with First Amendment concerns of the student body. Moments later, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr., announced that he had been infored that the university had cancelled the screening which was scheduled to be viewed this weekend. GLENN FAWCETT/SUN STAFF
